HSPF2

HSPF2 is the current industry rating for a heat pump's heating efficiency over a season. A higher number means more heat delivered per unit of electricity.

What is HSPF2?

HSPF2 (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor 2) measures how efficiently a heat pump heats your home across a full heating season. It's the heating counterpart to SEER2. A higher HSPF2 means the system turns more of the electricity it draws into delivered heat, which is what keeps a heat pump cheap to run even in winter.

Why HSPF2 matters more in cold climates

The colder your winters, the more your heating efficiency drives your annual energy cost. A strong HSPF2 paired with genuine cold-climate performance is what lets a heat pump stay affordable to run when the temperature drops.
