Heat pump basics
A heat pump is an all-electric system that heats and cools your home by moving heat instead of burning fuel, so one system does the job of both your furnace and your air conditioner.
Your home and your quote
No. Jetson Air is a central heat pump that connects to your home's existing ducts, so you need forced-air ductwork, even if it only reaches part of the house.
Your home and your quote
Probably not. Most homes, including ones with 100-amp service, don't need a panel upgrade for a Jetson system.
Your price depends on the size of system your home needs, any extra electrical work, and the rebates you qualify for. There's no single starting price because every Jetson Air is sized to the home it heats. Enter your address to get a price for your home.
The rebates you can get depend on where you live and which programs you qualify for, and Jetson handles the paperwork for you. Programs come from utilities and governments, some depend on income, and a few need your signature. Some rebates come off your price up front and others are paid to you after installation. Amounts aren't guaranteed and depend on each program's rules when you install.
Look beyond the headline price. Compare the system’s efficiency, cold-weather performance and how it’s sized for your home. Check whether each quote includes permits, electrical work, any necessary ductwork and removal of your old equipment, and what could cost extra. For coverage, compare parts, labor and service-call costs, including any ongoing plan fees. Make sure rebates are presented the same way: discounts upfront versus cash back after installation.
Have another quote? Your Jetson advisor can walk through it with you, side by side.
Jetson offers financing through lending partners that differ by where you live, and most of them require a credit check. Rates, terms and approval depend on the lender or program in your area. Your advisor can walk you through the options for your home.
If you’re switching from gas or oil, your electricity bill will usually go up, but your gas or oil costs will go down or disappear. Heat pumps are highly efficient and can lower your combined energy costs over the year. How much you save depends on your current system, local energy rates and your home’s heating and cooling needs.
Your quote covers the Jetson Air heat pump, installation, permits and the inspection after installation, and we handle the rebate paperwork. If your home needs extra work, such as an electrical panel upgrade, we'll add it to your quote and tell you before installation.
Some homes need additional work, such as electrical service or panel upgrades, installation in tight spaces, or difficult refrigerant line runs. Drywall and paint repairs or specialist work for asbestos and other safety issues may also cost extra. We’ll explain any additional work and costs for your approval before proceeding.
Jetson buys its heat pumps directly from the manufacturer instead of through distributors, and uses technology to cut the cost of quoting and designing each system. We size your home from its details and photos instead of sending a salesperson, which removes the cost of a sales visit.
Your deposit locks in your quoted price and your place on the installation schedule. It's fully refundable if you cancel more than 7 days before your installation date, and refunds post within 7 to 10 business days of your request.
A heat pump is an all-electric system that heats and cools your home by moving heat instead of burning fuel, so one system does the job of both your furnace and your air conditioner. In winter it moves heat into your home, and in summer it moves heat out. Jetson Air replaces your furnace and connects to the ducts you already have.
A gas furnace burns fuel to make heat, while a heat pump uses electricity to move heat, so it can cool your home in summer too. That lets one heat pump do the work of both your furnace and your air conditioner. Which costs less to run depends on your local gas and electricity rates and on your home.
No. Jetson Air is sized to heat your whole home on its own, so it replaces your gas furnace rather than keeping it as backup, and Jetson doesn't install gas dual-fuel systems. Some homes get an electric heat strip as backup, for example when older ducts or a tight furnace room limit the unit size, or when you want extra peace of mind. A heat strip adds to your price.
Yes. Jetson Air is a cold-climate heat pump rated to heat down to -22°F. We size each system from a heating calculation for your home and local climate, then verify it can handle your home's heating needs.
Your heat pump stops if it loses power during an outage. An extended outage generally won’t harm the equipment. When power returns, allow a few minutes for it to restart. If it hasn’t restarted after about 10 minutes, contact Jetson Support. If you notice water damage, smoke or a burning smell around the system, keep it off and contact Jetson Support.
A correctly sized heat pump is expected to last about 15 to 20 years. An oversized one switches on and off too often, which wears out parts and can cut that roughly in half. That's why Jetson sizes every system to your home's heating needs.
Jetson Air is built to our specifications through a direct manufacturing partnership, cutting out the distributor in between. We pair the equipment with our own smart controls and software for connected temperature control, remote diagnostics and ongoing software updates.
Outside, Jetson Air's outdoor unit usually runs at about 45 dB, a low hum, and can reach about 55 dB at full power in extreme temperatures, when it sounds more like hard rain. Inside, the sound is mostly air moving through your existing ducts, so it depends on your ductwork.
No. Jetson Air is a central heat pump that connects to your home's existing ducts, so you need forced-air ductwork, even if it only reaches part of the house. Homes heated only by baseboards, radiant floors or a boiler usually need a ductless mini-split, which Jetson doesn't install.
Probably not. Most homes, including ones with 100-amp service, don't need a panel upgrade for a Jetson system. We check your home's electrical capacity during your assessment, so you'll know before installation.
Jetson sizes your heat pump from a heating calculation for your home, not a rule of thumb. It looks at your local climate, altitude, square footage, basement and the year your home was built, and a Jetson field manager checks your furnace space and ducts before the size is confirmed. Bigger isn't better, because an oversized heat pump switches on and off too often, which wastes energy and wears out parts.
Jetson combines your home’s details with local climate data to calculate its heating and cooling needs. Our system design engineers then review photos of your electrical panel, existing equipment and ductwork alongside those calculations to confirm the system design, electrical capacity and installation requirements. This process allows us to assess most homes remotely, without an in-person visit.
For most homes, installation takes a single day. Our crew arrives with the equipment, materials and tools prepared for your home. We handle installation, testing and setup, then walk you through your new system before we leave.
Jetson Air includes a five-year parts warranty, one year of installation and labor coverage, and one year of coverage for accessories such as the thermostat and Hub.

Regularly check and replace your air filter, and keep the outdoor unit clear of debris. Jetson provides reminders to help you stay on top of maintenance and filter changes. Maintenance is included with Jetson Care or Care Plus.
You control Jetson Air from the Jetson Home app on iOS or Android. You can set the temperature, switch between Heat, Cool, Auto and Off, change the fan speed, and build daily or weekly schedules for home, away and sleep.
Yes. Jetson Air keeps heating and cooling if your Wi-Fi or internet goes down, though you may not be able to use the app until the connection is back. If the app doesn't reconnect, contact Jetson Support and we'll check your hub's connection.
Jetson Air is controlled by the Jetson Hub, which replaces your current thermostat, so you'd manage your system from the Jetson Home app instead. Jetson doesn't currently work with Google Home, Apple Home or Amazon Alexa.
The Air Score in the Jetson Home app summarizes your indoor air quality using measurements of fine particles (PM2.5), carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds. If your system hasn’t been heating, cooling or circulating air recently, it shows Unavailable alongside your last reading and when it was taken. Once air starts circulating, allow a few minutes for a new reading. Jetson Care members also see individual pollutant readings and a seven-day Air Score history.

Yes. Jetson Water is cold weather certified, with heat pump performance down to 37°F and electric backup to 5°F.
A heat pump water heater moves heat instead of making it. Jetson Water pulls warmth from the air around the tank and moves it into the water, using 75% less energy than burning fuel or resistance electric.
A heat pump pulls heat from the surrounding air and transfers it into the tank. When you need more hot water, faster, you can switch between four modes: heat pump, economy, hybrid, or e-heater.
